Favel Parrett is an Australian writer who loves to surf. Her first novel, Past the Shallows, was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Literary award 2012, and she was awarded the Antarctic Arts Fellowship to complete research for her second novel, When the Night Comes.
Place, Character and Voice
Harry stood on the sand and looked down the wide curved beach of Cloudy. Everything was clean and golden and crisp, the sky almost violet with the winter light and he wished that he wasn’t afraid.
Come on a journey to the isolated and wild south coast of Tasmania – the home of two young brothers, Harry and Miles. I will talk about my writing process, my path to publication, and where the inspiration for Past the Shallows came from.
